About Me

Cherri Kincaid

I am a Quilt Artist. I love combining machine embroidery and quilting to make beautiful works of art. I hope that I can inspire you to create your own works of art using the different techniques that I show you.

I have always had a desire to create. I started sewing my own clothes at a very young age. I considered it a necessary survival tactic. Before I started making my own clothes my mother made them for me. She made every color imaginable of gingham check, straight shift dresses with a large ruffle down the front. This was fine for a five-year-old going to an Easter parade, but face it, a teenager going to public school? I still have a fear of gingham check.

Over the years, the desire to sew my own clothes faded mostly for lack of time. Somehow, I became a rocket scientist. Up until the end of 2016 I worked with McDonnel Douglas, Boeing and United Launch Alliance launching rockets. It was a very rewarding career and took up most of my sewing time. I still needed to spark that creative tingle, so I looked for something that I would have time for and still give me the feeling that I was being creative. I was so excited when I discovered the home embroidery machine. The machines are mesmerizing and they create beautiful embroideries in 1/8 of the time it would take doing it by hand. It fit the bill perfectly, but there are only so many things you can embroidery on, so I went looking for another creative way to use the embroidery machine.

What I discovered was a love for combining quilting and machine embroidery, and creating beautiful art quilts and wall hangings.
