Curvy Quilt Continued

Here is a picture showing more progress on the curvy quilt.  Each block already has the backing on it and is quilted.  It is the method that I use most when making the blocks 'in the hoop'.

Almost finished with all thirty blocks.   The final picture will be ready soon.

Curvy Quilt

I mentioned in my last blog that I had been distracted for a week or so with another project.  Thought that I would give you a little peek at what I was up to.  I had bought some really great fabrics called Taxi, from Hawthorne Threads (one of my favorite online fabric stores)  a few months ago.  Maybe longer, since we know that times does fly.   I did notice that they got some more of the fabric in just recently, so it should still be available if you are interested. http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/alice_kennedy/taxi

For this project I used a new set of blocks from Chantells Creations.  These are made 'in the hoop' using my Babylock Ellisimo's 8"x8" hoop.  I stitched out 30 of the blocks and then attached them together using a zig zag stitch, and then a satin stitch on top of that.  I then bound the quilt in the traditional manner.

Here is a close up view of two of the blocks.

Rainbow Quilt

Here are a few more blocks for the Rainbow quilt.  I got side tracked on another project for the last couple of weeks.  I will share that project with you soon.  But until then, enjoy these new additions.

Applique Square

Ok, I have to admit, I have been stuck in a non-creative place for awhile.  I can't just sit down and start sewing or embroidering without it 'talking' to me.  I have tons of ideas and projects that I plan on doing, but if it's not sparking the creative flow, nothing is happening.  I can spend hours searching the Internet, or looking at my quilting books and magazines, before an idea jumps out and says 'pick me!'
Well something did finally talk to me last week and I have made a start.  I have one 'block' made.
In this process, I make individual 'quilt in the hoop' blocks, then when they are all completed, I stitch them together.  Thanks to Mia, who digitized the applique square for me and the designs that I am using in the middle, the idea is moving ahead.
Here is the first block.  I plan on using many different colored blocks and matching the inside design to the color of the applique square.  It's hard to see in this picture, but the applique square is mounted on a 6x6 white square which was done 'in the hoop' of my Babylock embroidery machine.  As I work along, I will post some of the different blocks.
